We survived!

Typhoon Man Yi is no longer with us here on Okinawa. The Snyder family survived just fine, well unless you count Brittany going stir crazy with cabin fever. We didn't evacuate like we would have if we lived in the states and a hurricane was coming (there was no place to go). Most everything in Okinawa is made of concrete & there are bars on the windows as well as wire in the glass to prevent it from shattering. The coastal communities in the US should really take note. We have seen very little damage & the typhoon was a category 4. Katrina was a category 3 when it made land fall. The damage we are seeing is mostly trees and plants that have been uprooted, but still very minor compare to the states. We were quite impressed with the intensity of the storm and how little damage there is. Not to mention how crazy the Japanese people are. They were out driving in the middle of the typhoon. Not during the calm of the eye passing over, full fledge in the middle of the typhoon. I'm not sure how their little cars didn't turn over.
We seemed to have the least issues during the typhoon out of all our friends. We didn't lose electricity, our apartment didn't flood, and we kept water the whole time. We did lose tv, but only because we have a satelite & had to take it down due to the storm. I praise God that we were so blessed to keep all our creature comforts. There were some scary moments, especially with howling windows and doors. We lived through it & will always have the story to tell about how we survived the typhoon in Okinawa. We love you guys!
